Debt Relief Orders Advice - Financial Help for People with Low Incomes or who are currently unemployed.

What is a Debt Relief Order?

A debt relief order (DRO) is a debt solution that can be used if you are unemployed and in debt or have a low income and cannot afford to repay your debts. If your debts total £3,000 or more, then a debt relief order could be the right debt solution for you.

Debt help for unemployed people can include a DRO which usually lasts for a period of 1 year and during that time, the people or companies that you owe money to are NOT able to take any action against you to get their money back. If your circumstances do not improve, then at the end of the year, the debt relief order will be finalised so that you become free of all the debts that were listed in the order. It is really important that you include every debt that you have, otherwise the creditors that you have left out, could take court action against you to recover their money.

Due to the complex nature of these orders, it is advisable to seek independent debt advice to make sure that your debt relief order is structured correctly.

A Debt Relief Order is granted by the Insolvency Service, to find out more & to get free debt advice, which can include getting your DRO underway.
